Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta is where this whole project started and where most of our network lives. It is a working Mexican city of about 300,000 people wrapped around the second-largest bay in the country, with cobblestone streets, a boardwalk that fills up every evening and a jungle that starts two blocks behind the last hotel. You can eat street tacos for 60 pesos or a tasting menu for 3,000, surf in the morning in Sayulita and be back for sunset on the Malecón.

What makes it different from Cancún or Los Cabos is that people actually live here. There are neighborhoods, markets, a university, a huge expat community and a real estate market that has grown every year for a decade. That is also why so many of the businesses in our directory are based here: tours, private chefs, spas, law firms, developers and the agencies that put them online.
